About Mozella’s Kitchen
Mozella’s Kitchen is more than just a catering company—it’s a tribute to my beloved grandmother, Grammy Mozella. She migrated from Mississippi to Chicago in the late 1920s, bringing with her a passion for cooking, baking, and a strong work ethic that led her to become a skilled butcher at Hygrade Packing House, where she worked for over 22 years alongside mostly men.
Growing up, I was her little helper, traveling with her to visit family across Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, Michigan, and beyond. No matter where we went, the heart of every gathering was always in the kitchen. Cooking, baking, canning—it was a family tradition, and I was right there, frying catfish, making buttermilk biscuits, and picking fresh ingredients from the garden by the age of eight.
Though I was a city girl, my heart belonged wherever Grammy was, whether in Chicago or down South. She not only taught me how to cook but also instilled in me a valuable lesson: Never cook for others if you’re upset or mad—always cook with love.
Mozella’s Kitchen is my way of honoring her legacy, sharing the flavors, traditions, and love she passed down to me. Every dish we create is made with the same passion and heart that Grammy poured into her own cooking. Welcome to Mozella’s Kitchen—where every meal is made with love!
